| Implementation Background | UAE energy label certificate is a mandatory certificate promulgated and implemented by the Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA). ESMA was established as the sole authority for Quality, Metrology and Standards and the National Certification Body under the Law No. 28/2001. ESMA announced the launch of the national energy efficiency and conservation program in 23/4/2011. Based on this program, the Energy Efficiency Standardization and Labeling Program (EESL) which covers Air Conditioners, Refrigerator/Freezer and Washing machine came into effect from 2012. EESL program regulate that all products must pass product testing to get an energy efficiency certificate, and be affixed with the energy label before being marketed in UAE. |
